Students get published!

We are proud to share that 19 students from Year 7 – Year 13 have had their work selected to be published in various books released nationwide. The students were inspired by our library termly creative writing competitions run in conjunction with Young Writers. The books themselves are available to purchase by the public and most impressively, forever included in the British Library archive in London!

Huge congratulations to Heidi (7IN), Kacie (7IN), Eve (9AM), Tilly (9CO), Emma (10CR2), and Keira (10IN2), whose Stranger Sagas have been published, and to Isla (7AM), Eva (7CO), Sienna (8AM), Eve (9AM), Jasmine (9CO2), Amber (9IN), and Natalia (13IN), whose I Have a Dream poems were also selected for publication. And there is more to come … Thea (7AM), Mariia (7AM), Evelyn (7AM), Isabella (7CO), Heidi (7IN), and Kacie (7IN) are currently having their Ridiculous Writers stories published. We cannot wait for our copies to arrive.

National competitions challenge our students to use their literacy, imagination, and creativity in very different ways. Stranger Sagas asked young writers to create a short story with a twist, while I Have a Dream encouraged students to use poetry to explore their hopes, ambitions, and ideas for the future. Ridiculous Writers gave students the freedom to have fun with language and storytelling, creating their own wonderfully ridiculous stories.

From Year 7 right through to Year 13, seeing our students become published writers is something very special. Several copies of the anthologies are already available in our school library for students and staff to enjoy. Our school value of ambition in action – showing us their best!
